THE Rudd Government has given Telstra an ultimatum to hand over detailed plans of its entire network to rivals hoping to bid against it in a tender for the $8 billion national broadband scheme.
In his first challenge to Telstra, Communications Minister Stephen Conroy asked for them to "voluntarily" release the confidential information in order to "maximise competitive tension".
Telstra however said that while it wanted to co-operate with the new Government, it was concerned about national security issues raised by the release of the highly sensitive information.
